  • Creating a Caring Environment
  • Available as one 2-hour session
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Teasing and bullying can affect a child’s learning, physical health, and emotional-well-being. Join us to explore tools and strategies to help you create a climate of mutual respect and empathy where all children feel safe, comfortable, and welcome.

  • Health & Safety Basics
  • Available as one 2-hour session
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Keeping staff and children safe and healthy is one of the most important aspects of child care, and it’s a responsibility that you must take seriously. In this training, we’ll explore general illness prevention practices as well as ways to identify common safety hazards for children from birth through school-age.

  • SIDS
  • Available as one 1-hour session
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) is the leading cause of death among infants between one month and one year old. Each year, about 4,000 infants die unexpectedly during sleep time, from SIDS, accidental suffocation, and unknown causes. Come learn about the steps you can take to support and promote safe sleep and reduce the risk of SIDS for children in your care.

  • Preventing Discipline Problems
  • Available as one 6-hour session or three 2-hour sessions
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Preventing problems before they start helps people to avoid many problems in daily life. During this interactive, video-based training, you will learn how to use positive guidance strategies to minimize children’s behavioral problems.

  • Rollicking Read-Alouds
  • Available as one 2-hour session
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Many of us have fond childhood memories of being read to, of snuggling up and enjoying a favorite story with the people who love us. It turns out that this time-honored tradition is one of the best ways to support children’s language and literacy development! We will explore why reading aloud to young children is important, as well as to learn strategies for conducting effective read-alouds with the children in your program.

  • Understanding and Responding to Biting
